As a Maine photographer specializing in senior, engagement and lifestyle sessions, I have explored some of the most scenic and beautiful locations across the state. In this article I am going to share 5 of my favorite locations to help you decide where to have your next photoshoot!

If you’re searching for a Maine beach with a variety of backdrops, Kettle Cove is a great choice. This beach offers rocky shoreline, soft sand, and surrounding walking trails which is perfect for your senior, engagement sessions, or family portraits.

For those drawn to open landscapes and a more rustic New England feel, the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm may be the place for you. I love Laudholm because of the beautiful fields and scenic nature trails, it’s an ideal setting for capturing your western inspired session. One thing to note- admission is charged the first Saturday before Memorial Day through Indigenous People’s Day. At other times of the year, visitors are encouraged to voluntarily pay the admission fee and/or to donate.
Under 6: Free, Ages 6 to 16: $2, Over 16: $6.

If you’re looking for lots of flowers to create a colorful gallery I would recommended Broadturn Farm in Scarborough! This beautiful farm has a big variety of flowers in bloom all summer long. There is a donation based fee for photoshoots which goes towards the Scarborough Land Trust.

For a more urban aesthetic, Portland’s Old Port offers classic cobblestone streets, historic brick buildings, and a lively downtown atmosphere. I prefer visiting this location in the fall and winter time when the streets are less crowded. Visiting in the fall and winter is also great because once the leaves fall off the trees in other locations- the city makes an amazing background. This is the perfect backdrop for modern portraits, branding sessions, or anyone wanting that timeless city vibe with a coastal twist.

We all know Maine for the iconic lighthouse’s. Fort Williams has a variety of locations around the property including historic buildings, rocky beaches, and of course the lighthouse. I like this location because there is always plenty of parking and it’s a big enough location to fill up an hour long session.

Overall, each of these locations offer something unique, making them perfect for any type of photoshoot! If you loved this article be sure to follow me on Facebook or Instagram at Carly T. Photography to see where my sessions will take me next!
